Biography —
Dr. Sangeeta Joshi is a pharmaceutical scientist and research director with over 25 years of academic and industrial experience in the areas of analytical characterization, formulation development and drug delivery. She is co-founder and Executive Director of the Vaccine Analytics and Formulation Center (VAFC), located within the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of Kansas (KU). She develops and writes research proposals/grants (co-PI) for the VAFC and directs funded projects focused on analysis and formulation of vaccine and biotherapeutic candidates to facilitate their entry into clinical trials. Dr. Joshi manages client relationships for VAFC as well as the scientific responsibilities of VAFC scientists.
Dr. Joshi’s technical expertise is in the area of developing analytical methods and designing formulations to stabilize proteins, mRNA-LNPs and live and inactivated viruses. She has overseen hundreds of analytical and formulation development projects with biotherapeutic and vaccine clinical candidates during her 20+ years at KU, including published work with now marketed products including a recombinant HA flu vaccine (FluBlok™), an oncolytic herpes virus-based therapy (IMLYGIC™), a live multivalent dengue virus vaccine (QDENGA™), and HPV VLP vaccine (Cervavac™).
Dr. Joshi is co-author on ~165 papers in the areas of molecular virology and biochemistry as well as formulation and stabilization of biopharmaceuticals and vaccines. Dr. Joshi earned her Ph.D. in Biochemistry at Delhi University (India) and has received numerous national and international awards including the ICRETT fellowship award (to work as an exchange scientist at NIH) and an HHMI fellowship for her post-doctoral work at Northwestern University.
